"Hi there, My name is Kristen Briggs, organizer of the Tallahassee Homeschool Meetup group and mother, and homeschool educator of a 7 (almost 8) year old boy. I look forward to meeting you at a gathering soon."

What are the children's interests? (ie. soccer, art, music...)

"He really enjoys soccer, listening to music, role-playing (mostly PowerRangers, StormHawks), collecting Pokemon cards, riding his bike, playing with our dogs and the neighborhood kids."

What are the ages of your homeschoolers?

"He is an only child, and is 7, eight over the summer and in the 2nd grade."

Which homeschool curriculum do you use?

"We chose to go with a distance learning school, Laurel Springs. We use their "project based" curriculum - also use resources from the web to supplement his learning."

Why do you homeschool?

"We chose to turn to homeschooling this school year (2007-2008) to help alleviate the stress a traditional classroom had on our son. By doing so, he has embraced new ideas, is more inquisitive about topics and has developed a thirst for knowledge."
