Q: What is this group for?
A: This group is to help local homeschoolers have fun social activities, exchange information (via our message board), give and receive advice, ask and answer questions and encourage each other. There is also a place on the message board to buy/sell/give away/trade your used books and other curricula.
-------------------
Q: Who should join this group?
A: This group is open to local homeschoolers - those in Charleston and the surrounding areas - that want to meet and socialize with other homeschoolers.
-------------------
Q: Are there dues or fees for this group?
A: There are no membership fees at this time. On occasion there might be an event fee, depending on the event.
-------------------
Q: Where are meetings held?
A: Meetings are usually held in North Charleston or West Ashley. If a member wants to, he or she can host a meeting where he/she chooses.
-------------------
Q: How often do you meet?
A: At this time, meetings are held once a month. Once we get more members, we can increase the number of meetings and add playdates, etc. My goal for the group is to eventually have different activites every week.
-------------------
Q: Can I join if I have young preschoolers or infants?
A: Absolutely! If you have young children in addition to school-age children, you are more than welcome to join.
-------------------
Q: Is this an accountability group?
A: No. This group is NOT to help you satisfy the accountability requirements for an Option 3 homeschooler. This is purely a social activity group.
-------------------
Q: Is there any particular curriculum (A Beka, Rod and Staff, etc.) or philosophy (such as unschooling, Charlotte Mason, etc.) promoted in your group?
A: No, there isn't. Members are encouraged to discuss whatever curriculum or philosophy they are using or considering - however, please be considerate of other members.
-------------------
Q: Is this group for Christian homeschoolers only?
A: No, it is not. Keep in mind, however, that many homeschoolers educate their children at home for religious reasons, so there will be many Christian homeschoolers in the group. In addition, this group is led by a Christian homeschooler.
-------------------
Q: I have a business. Can I promote it within the group?
A: If you have a business, the best way to promote it is to become a group sponsor. This way, your business can be seen by all of the group members and also by those simply looking at the group. Your business information is also sent out with all newsletters.
To learn how to be a group sponsor, please contact the Organizer.
-------------------
Q: I am not homeschooling yet, but I am considering it. Can I join?
A: This type of situation will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Organizer for more information.
